Abstract

Ultralong haul (ULH) systems have historically been the domain of undersea networks. Submarine transmission systems have recently operated on negative chromatic dispersion maps in which the transmission link is based on one or more non-zero dispersion shifted fibers (NZDFs) with low, negative dispersions. Compensation is then accomplished with standard single mode fiber (SSMF). We apply this technology in terrestrial fibre dispersion management.
