Abstract

Research and development effort in the field of materials and fabrication processes is directed toward reducing the weight of the inert parts of the rocket motor case consistent with maintaining reliability. A review of the current status of fabrication processes and materials applied to the manufacture of propulsion subsystems using solid propellants is given, including structural alloys and high temperature materials. Brief statements are made giving the development objectives for the next generation of rocket motor cases.
