Abstract

Nano-species derived from carborane clusters are extremely useful materials in the field of science and engineering. In this article, the unique properties and potential applications of carboraneous (nano-) materials, along with detailed descriptions of recent developments in carborane chemistry are being discussed. Many reviews have been focused on the synthesis and characterization of carborane clusters and their derivatives. This mini review mainly discusses on the latest applications of carboraneous materials. They have found wide potential applications in cancer therapy, including boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), semiconductor devices, inhibitors, molecular vehicles and catalysis, due to their unusual chemical stability and reactivity.
