Abstract

The dynamics of digitalization are forcing companies more than ever to have customer-focused innovation in addition with short product cycles in order to increase the market success rate of new product and service developments. Enterprises question themselves how existing development and manufacturing processes could be improved through agility in the growing digital environment. There exist different variations of agility which differ about the approach, tools and methods. Businesses like to explore the field of agility for themselves, to understand which of these different approaches can be implemented in their environment. Often agility approaches are focused on programming yields. This paper describes as a literature review combined with a case study the agile approach of Design Thinking and Integrated Design Engineering which can be used in particular in the area of ​​product development process to drive an advanced agile approach smart product and smart services.
