Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a primary cause of morbidity and mortality in developingcountries. One third of the world's population is infected by Mycobacterium tuberculosis(Mtb),only 10% ofinfected individuals develop into clinical TB, which indicates that an essential role is involved with hostgenetic factors in TB susceptibility. Cytokines are significant ingredients in TB immunity, which proves to actin the susceptibility, severity and clinical outcome of disease, since single nucleoticle polymorphism in severalcytokine genes should provide a pivotal contribution for understanding of the susceptibility to TB. The reviewsummarizes the relationship between cytokine gene polymorphisms and tuberculosis susceptibility. Key words: Tuberculosis; Gene polymorphism; Susceptibility; Cytokine; Immune response
