Abstract

Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a type of myocardial disease, independent of hypertensive cardiomyopathy and coronary artery disease.The classic pathogenesis was supposed with metabolic disturbances, myocardial fibrosis, myocardial cell apoptosis and small vessel disease.Recently, oxidative stress and inflammation have been reported to play a critical role in diabetic cardiomyopathy, which may be a potential therapeutic target for diabetic cardiomyopathy.Here, we reviewed studies on mechanism of diabetic cardiomyopathy and hopefully provide a new theoretical basis for prevention and treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy.
