Abstract
Cathepsin K is a lysosomal cysteine protease of the papain superfamily.Recently,Cathepsin K was found as an intracellular protease in lysosome and it is one of the capital enzymes for extracellular matrix degradation.Gathepsin K is not only correlated with normal physiological regulation of human body,which expressed in osteoclasts,involved in bone remodeling and resorption,and play a vital role in chondrocyte extracellular matrix degradation,but also abnormally expressed in many solid tumors.This review summarizes the functions of CTSK gene and its association with tumors and other diseases.
