Abstract

Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is infrastructure less network. It is dynamically formed by an independent system of mobile nodes that are connected via wireless links. Significant researches on routing protocol have been carried over MANET. But many of them are limited to single hop networks. Dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol is one of the efficient routing protocol over others but the performance of DSR is not satisfactory for multi hop networks where common best path is available. The best available protocol like DSR is failed to select best path in multi hop ad hoc network. This research paper proposed enhancement to existing DSR protocol. The proposed work suggests new protocol named as A-DSR, which is enhanced version of existing DSR protocol. The performance evaluation of this new protocol A-DSR is done and it is compared with the other routing protocol under low traffic condition. The various network performance parameters like throughput, end-end delay, Packet delivery fraction (PDF), Routing overheads, Number of dropped data packets have been calculated. The result and graphs shows that A-DSR is better and comparable to other protocols.
