Abstract

A 58-year-old African American man with no significant medical history presented with progressive discoloration of his back that had been present for 15 years. The patient has no history of previous inflammation, pruritus, discoloration, or trauma to this area. He denied the use of any oral medications, specifically the previous use of antimalarial drugs, minocycline, or phenothiazines. No family members were known to have similar skin dyspigmentation. The physical examination revealed a localized blue-grey patch that involved nearly his entire back (Fig 4).
