Abstract

Background: Low ceruloplasmin may indicate Wilson’s disease or copper deficiency. Ceruloplasmin assays are not well harmonised, necessitating assay specific reference intervals (RI). The lower reference limit (LRL) in the Siemens BN II package insert (0.2 g/L) if reported to two significant figures was previously shown to be too high in Asian cities. However, studies from predominantly Caucasian populations were lacking.
