Abstract
The chemisorption of benzene and toluene on Pt(111) has been studied by vibrational EELS, TDS, AES and Δφ techniques. The presence of differentiable adsorption sites has not been evidenced both for benzene and toluene, the adsorption mode (π bonded molecules lying flat on the surface) being the same with still a larger bond strength for toluene.
