Abstract

The extraction and recovery of uranium from low-concentration uranium-bearing liquids has practical and environmental value. The most efficient and economical method is adsorption. In this study, two novel adsorption materials were prepared by grafting malonamide and diglycolamide, functional groups with good chelating uranyl ions, onto the surface of chlorine spheres. The two materials showed good adsorption capacity of U(VI) from dilute solution with low acidity, up to 150 ± 0.5 mg/g and 47 ± 0.5 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption kinetics study showed that the adsorption process was chemical adsorption and endothermic. The adsorption material has a large particle size, is easy to use and recycle, and has good physical and chemical stability.
