Abstract

Adsorption of thymine in view of 2-D condensation on a (111) face of a silver single crystal is studied. It is shown that normal single organic molecule adsorption takes place, while 2-D condensation on the electrode surface is not found. A suggested hypothesis is that the hydrophilicity of the electrode material is a possible reason for the different adsorption behaviour of thymine on various electrodes. It is shown that the adsorption of thymine on a silver (111) crystal face is described well by Frumkin's isotherm. Some adsorption parameters are estimated.
