Abstract
AbstractResults obtained for the adsorption of surfactants (non‐ionic and ionic) on a ground sand (4.2 m2 g−1) and on a kaolin (19.4 m2 g−1) are described. The very small enthalpy of displacement of water by the surfactant molecules (5–17 mJ m−2 of adsorbing surface) and the slow structuring or rearrangement of adsorbed molecules (over several hours) would be extremely difficult to detect by techniques other than microcalorimetry.
