Abstract

The adsorption of dioctyl sodium sulphosuccinate (Aerosol OT) on synthetic carbonate apatite minerals, with different CO 3/PO 4 molar ratios, was investigated at controlled ionic strength, pH and temperature. The results were analyzed according to the modified Frumkin isotherm which takes into consideration the effect of the large size of the AOT molecule. The lateral interaction coefficient ‘a’ and the adsorption free energy change ΔG Θ o were found to depend on the degree of coverage. The flotation recovery results are discussed in view of this analysis.
