Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this study was to investigate Artist’s Bracket (AB) fungi for the removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, temperature, contact time and initial concentration of Cr(VI) were evaluated. The optimal pH value for the removal of Cr(VI) was at pH 2. Moreover, the results showed that the adsorption of Cr(VI) decreased by increasing the initial Cr(VI) concentration and pH. The absorption of Cr(VI) on AB can be described by both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models. In addition, both pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic model well described the adsorption of Cr(VI) onto AB.
