Abstract
The formation of mixed adsorbed layers has been tested for several ternary mixtures containing a specifically adsorbed component, ketone or benzene, and a binary solvent, benzene + n-heptane or n-heptane + cyclohexane. The specific excess adsorption isotherms in the liquid phase were measured on silica gel at 298 K. The experimental adsorption data are discussed on the basis of changes in the mixed solvent composition. These changes and adsorption capacity data indicate the formation of multilayer and mixed surface phases.
