Abstract

Abstract Adsorptions of twelve β-diketones and their copper(II) complexes onto an octadecyl-bonded silica gel from an aqueous solution were measured by a batch technique. Several equilibrium constants for the adsorption reaction were measured and compared with those for solvent extraction. Using these constants, the abundance of each chemical species containing copper(II) ion in the presence of 2,4-pentanedione was calculated with respect to both the aqueous and the ODS gel phase.
