Abstract

Abstract Studies have been carried out on the adsorption behaviour of WO42− ions onto strong basic anion-exchange resin (type 201 × 7) in highly concentrated tungstate solutions. The saturated adsorption capacity was determined as 140 mg/ml wet resin. Effects of initial tungstate solution concentration, temperature and resin particle size were investigated, respectively, on the adsorption rate of WO42− ions. The results indicated that the whole adsorption reaction corresponded to the Quadratic Driving-Force Model, and the grain diffusion was the controlling step. The total kinetic equation, which could be used to describe the adsorption behaviour in wide concentration range, was determined as − ln 1 − η t 2 = 1.03 × 10 − 4 × W O 3 1 / 2 × exp − 0.084 W O 3 + 40.28 / R T × r 0 − 2 × t .
