Abstract
Adrenal rests are small nodules of adrenal cortical tissue that are not infrequently found incidentally at orchiopexy or herniotomy. During a period of 12 months, 340 children aged 13 days to 17 years underwent operations for common inguinoscrotal pathology at the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Numune Medical Center. In 10 cases ectopic adrenocortical tissue was found during inguinoscrotal operations, an overall incidence of 4.3%. None was found in females. Removal of this tissue is indicated whenever found to prevent possible future development of malignant tumors or abnormal function of the tissue, although no special attempt should be made to search for it.
