Abstract
In Sudan, there is increasing concern about improving agricultural production to meet the demand of rapid population growth and boost farmers' profits. Potato is one of the most potential crops that can meet this purpose. This paper applied logistic regression model to assess the main recommended technical package influencing the yield and income in Khartoum state, Sudan. Data for the paper were collected from a total of 192 farmers distributed over four major villages specializing in potato production through structured interview questions, interactive group discussion and personal observation. The results showed that formal finance, informal finance, extension services, potato income, and land ownership have a significant positive impact on the wellbeing of potato farmers of the investigated areas. Adoption of recommended agronomic field practices by a wide number of farmers needs to practically be demonstrated in the field by the authorized institution to show the feasibility of these techniques and technologies.
