Abstract
ABSTRACT Static exhibition techniques are used extensively in art museums in Jordan. Yet, new modern display technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, digital and immersive installations, and interactive art displays implemented in international museums, significantly increased visitor numbers and enabled users to explore the museum’s extensive collection. This research explores opportunities to implement such new techniques in the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. Spatial and environmental considerations were analyzed to recommend the most appropriate modifications following modern display technologies and multimedia requirements. The study results showed that each display method needs a certain degree of privacy and a specific illumination level based on the type of technology used. These results draw a new vision for art museums to attract more visitors, improve their experiences, offer learning opportunities, and increase accessibility to the arts.
