Abstract

ABSTRACTThe anthropologist and historian Adolph Bandelier did much of his fieldwork (especially in the Southwest) under the auspices of archaeological organizations. In reality his interests were extremely varied and he combined archaeology, ethnology, and history to reconstruct culture. In spite of inadequate methods and techniques in archaeology, Bandelier's work does foreshadow the interpretive archaeology of the present day.
