Abstract

Adolf Eichmann’s career was discussed in detail at his trial in Jerusalem, where the historical issue was to determine to what extent he was responsable for the implementation of the “Final Solution of the Jewish Question”. In “Adolf Eichmann: a Nazi Career,” David Cesarani meticulously studied the Nazi files that covered Eichmann’s life in the years 1932-45, during which, the son of the petty bourgeois family became a key player in SS antisematic politics. Cesarani traced Eichmann’s social networks, analyzed the course of his career, and explained the links between Eichmann’s individual itinerary and the over goal of political apparatus. In so doing, Cesarani was able to answer the question of how a Nazi became a “genocidaire”.
