Abstract
For clinicians, administrators, and researchers in the realm of adolescent substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, any publication is a welcome addition to the field, given the lack of evidence-based treatment guidelines. Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment in the United States, edited by two well-published professionals, is not a “how-to” manual for those wanting to do therapy with substance-abusing youths. Essentially, it is a collection of summaries of 10 adolescent SUD treatment programs that are participating in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) study entitled the Adolescent Treatment Model (ATM).
