Abstract

In Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, the age at onset ranges from 40 to 90. By manuals, AD patients who develop symptoms before the age of 65 are classified as Early Onset. The cut-off at 65 is arbitrary and unlike other neuropsychiatric conditions, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, in AD the age at onset was supported by clinical observations without any statistical validation.
