Abstract

Array of longitudinal slots in the narrow wall of a rectangular waveguide are used to produce vertically polarized fields. The data on admittance characteristics of such slots is available in literature for minutely thin slots. However, high power applications require wide slots to avoid possible electrical breakdown. The analysis of such slots is of present interest. Admittance characteristics are obtained using the concept of self-reaction and discontinuity in modal current while taking the width of the slot into account. The effect of the width of the slot on the resonant frequency as well as slot length is considered in the present work.
