Abstract

Recent research in the field of cognitive psychology provides some surprising and important insights for students of administration. This article reviews various leitmotifs of the field and discusses several aspects-among them, perception, schema formation, information processing, and the evolution of the brain which have a direct bearing on administration and organizations. Finally, it explores the implications which these findings have for understanding administrative behavior.
