Abstract
Work-study programs at South Dakota State University during the academic year include part-time work in the university dairy processing plant, in research laboratories, and at the dairy research farm. Summer work experience is gained in dairy processing plants in several states. Students can receive 3h of academic credit for summer experience and up to 12 credits during a semester. A 10-page guide is provided for employers of workstudy students, and a 4-page mimeograph package outlines responsibilities of the student to the employer. Students write reports of their job experiences. A faculty advisor counsels these students and makes on-site visits during the summer work period.
