Abstract

Purpose of the study. To study the clinical efficacy and safety of iron(III)-hydroxide polymaltose (Maltofer) in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in children. Material and methods . A retrospective study of medical records of pediatic patients with iron deficiency anemia who received iron(III)-hydroxide polymaltose in standard doses during the course of inpatient treatment. Results. Administraton of iron(III)-hydroxide polymaltose was associated with a positive dynamics of the studied hematological parameters. No adverse reactions were reported. Girls demonstrated a more significant increase in hemoglobin levels and a more significant increase in the color index and mean cell hemoglobin compared to boys.
