Abstract
We show that the ..pi pi.. ..-->.. ..pi pi.. Adler PCAC (partial conservation of axial-vector current) condition requires a Reggeon intercept ..cap alpha.. (0) approx. = 0.5 within a broad class of multiperipheral models at the planar and cylinder levels. In the planar approximation this is closely related to the cancellation of the Reggeon-Reggeon cut.
