Abstract

Nuclear medicine (NM) facilities have added logistical considerations because many produce their radiopharmaceuticals in house, whether with generators or the use of a cyclotron. National NM organisations are publishing practice-based guidelines based on local laws, practice, and guidance, such as the British Nuclear Medicine Society, covering aspects such as postponement of certain examinations via a traffic-light system and delivery of radiopharmaceuticals. Other guidelines from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology discuss single-day imaging protocols, eliminating physical cardiac stress testing, and a collaborative article from leading NM facilities details the ground experiences faced when implementing such rapid and radical changes as those promoted within guidelines. Imaging services remained available, provided that patients and staff involved could follow local COVID-19 secure policies.
