Abstract

Adipose tissue is composed of adipocytes and cells from the stromal vascular fraction. In this issue of CellMetabolism, Bäckdahl etal. (2021) use spatial transcriptomics to provide a first glimpse at the architecture of human adipose tissue. The authors identify distinct adipocyte subpopulations with specific metabolic features.
