Abstract

In the present work, the interaction of human osteoblast-like MG63 cells with novel hydroxyapatite (HAp) microspheres was investigated. Cells were seeded on the microspheres and incubated for up to 7 days. The cell-material constructs were visual ised by scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy, and the rate of cel l proliferation was estimated using the Neutral Red assay. The results showed that osteoblastic cells were able to adhere and proliferate on the HAp microspheres, which are intended to be used as i njectable support-materials for bone regeneration.
