Abstract
Cancer is an important public health problem, which conditions the recovery of health to the adherence to treatment demonstrated by the subjects affected by the disease. This study sought to understand which factors facilitate and hinder adherence to cancer treatment and what are the possible interventions. This is a qualitative research with documental design, in which statements of subjects undergoing cancer treatment published in social networks were collected and grouped. The methodology of data analysis was guided by Content Analysis, and from the exploration of the statements, five thematic categories were identified: the subject and his internal world; the impacts on quality of life; subject, family and health team; health system and its conditioning factors; protective resources. The results indicated that adherence to treatment is a multifactorial phenomenon, which requires a broad and empathetic look at the construction of policies and health care. It is essential that health practices recognize the subjectivity of individuals affected by cancer. And thus, understand their difficulties in adherence as part of the process of adaptation to this condition and rethink interventions that help in this process.
