Abstract

Adenylate cyclase of porcine luteal tissue has been studied in relation to luteal regression. The level of adenylate cyclase activity was greater in tissue obtained at Days 12 or 14 of a cycle than in tissue from Days 16 or 17. The enzyme was responsive to added LH at Days 12 or 14 of the estrous cycle, but failed to respond to LH in tissue obtained at Days 16 or 17 of a cycle. A decline in adenylate cyclase activity and loss of responsiveness to LH appear to be correlated with the onset of luteal regression.
