Abstract

Rationale: Sarcopenia is characterized by loss of skeletal muscle function and mass. Adductor pollicis muscle thickness (APMT) and serum albumin concentrations are associated with the loss of lean mass in elderly. However, it remains to be ascertained whether these indicators are also associated with sarcopenia of chronic renal failure patients undergoing replacement therapy. Therefore, we investigated in adult patients undergoing hemodialysis the possible association between sarcopenia, albumin levels and APMT.
