With my honors college class on “Introduction to Public Service and Nonprofit Management” and “Health Strategies for Multicultural Health,” I explored maternal health interventions in the Mississippi Delta. In particular, I examined potential interventions to address the shocking health disparities between white and BIPOC mother mortality rates. While changes on multiple levels are necessary, I envision a two-pronged approach initially: expanding access to care and financing for our mothers that have traditionally fallen through the cracks of our healthcare system.
