Abstract

ALBUQUERQUE — When a student shows up on campus with a dog, he may not realize the difference between a pet, an assistance dog, an emotional support animal, and an Americans with Disabilities Act service dog, said Julie Ballinger of the Southwest ADA Center. The student just knows he does better if the animal is there, she added. It's up to you to interact with the student in a way that complies with the law and helps the student determine what category the animal fits into, she said.
