Abstract
Fluorosilicones are a class of synthetic lubricants which possess promising, intrinsic, thermal and viscometric properties. However, like all non-hydrocarbon-based lubricants, their use is limited by a shortage of soluble additives able to enhance the properties of the base fluid under extreme conditions. This paper describes a search for possible additives, soluble in fluorosilicones and able to inhibit oxidation and reduce wear at high temperatures. A number of such additives and additive combinations have been identified.
