Abstract
Nitro-substituted benzofuroxanes react as dienophiles in Diels-Alder reactions to give adducts of the structure3 or4, respectively. The o-bis-nitroso-benzene form, intermediate in the interconversion of the two furoxan structures, could not be trapped by cycloaddition with butadienes.
