Abstract
Seventy-two species of hlichens are reported for the first time from Utah. Significant range extensions include southwestern occurrences of Anaptychia palmulata (Michx.) Vain,. and Letharia vulpina (L.) Hue. This report was prepared in conjunction with publication of a catalog of Utah lichens. Based on examination of material from various U.S. herbaria, ongoing floristic investigations in the Uinta Moun- tains, and preliminary investigations elsewhere in the state, these 72 additions raise Utah's total num- ber of lichen species to 391. Most of the new reports are from the Uinta Mountains of northeast Utah. Specimens cited are in BRY unless otherwise indi- cated. The most significant range extension in this report is that of the pruinose sun form of Anaptychia pal- mulata (Michx.) Vain. Heretofore known only from eastern temperate woodlands, this specimen rep- resents the first collection of Anaptychia palmulata in western North America. Specimens of Letharia vulpina (L.)
