Abstract

that time one of us has had an opportunity to examine a copy of Piscicelli's book, which is in the Library of Congress, Washington, D. C., U.S.A. We think it will be useful now to publish a short discussion of the work and to list the species illustrated in it. Piscicelli's book is divided into three parts entitled as follows: I, Le Sorgenti del Congo; II, Le Sorgenti del Nilo; and III, Alle falde dell' Abissinico. Each section is again divided according to geographic regions. In the first, the three regions discussed are: (1) Lake Banguelo, (2) Lake Kivu, and (3) Lake Tanganyica. Only under the first and third of these are descriptions and illustrations of new species of plants found. In the second part four regions are discussed and only under the first are new species of plants described and illustrated. The regions are: (1) Ruanda, (2) Lake AlbertEdouard, (3) Lake Albert, and (4) Lake Victoria Nianza. In the third part in which the Altipiano Abissinico is discussed there are also descriptions of new species with an illustration for each.
