Abstract

The paper is devoted to propagation of exciton–polariton excitations in atomic cryocrystals in the frequency vicinity of a quadrupole-allowed excitonic resonance. The unit volume quadrupole polarizability tensor is obtained for a cubic crystal. A number of peculiar features of exciton polariton dispersion are discussed, related to the presence of additional light waves.
