Abstract

Abstract Maccoyella incurvata has a very shallow byssal notch and up to about 20 radial plicae at the ventral margin. The number of radial plicae overlaps that of M. corbiensis (Moore) from the Lower Cretaceous of Australia. The record of an Upper Jurassic species of Maccoyella from Western Australia is based on a misidentification. Consequently, Maccoyella has a known age range of Lower Cretaceous in Australia. The New Zealand M. incurvata is probably also of Lower Cretaceous age.
