Abstract
This report presents an overview of the activities of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Magdalena Sepulveda Carmona, during the term of her mandate 2008-2014. It summarizes the Special Rapporteur’s country visits to Ecuador, Zambia, Bangladesh, Viet Nam, Ireland, Timor-Leste, Paraguay, Namibia, Mongolia, Mozambique, the Republic of Moldova and Guinea-Bissau (in chronological order). It also highlights the Special Rapporteur’s thematic reports on social protection, welfare reform, penalization of poverty, access to justice, participation, unpaid care work, and the post-2015 development goals as well as her work on advocacy and in concluding the drafting process for the Guiding Principles on extreme poverty and human rights.
