Abstract

Unfortunately a footnote was omitted from the published version of this article, which drew attention to some points of similarity between our model of a developing country which was in a direct lineage from the Lewis and Harris-Todaro models and the one that Robert Bacon and Walter Eltis applied to the United Kingdom and later to the United States and Canada in Britain's Economic Problem: Too Few Producers (Macmillan, Ist edition 1976, 2nd edition I 978). Their analysis was one of the intellectual strands from which we drew.
