Abstract
The author draws comparisons between the research and development systems in OECD countries and in Czechoslovakia. Three-dimensional statistical data is presented concerning Czechoslovak research and development expenditures and personnel. The distribution of per capita expenditures between industrial, university and governmental sectors in OECD countries and Czechoslovakia is also shown. The author describes his proposal for improving the quality of research and development in Czechoslovakia in light of the present economic situation.
