Abstract
Wavelet Packet Modulation (WPM) is a novel multicarrier modulation (MCM) technique. However, one of it's a few key research questions is the sensitivity and vulnerability to time synchronization errors. In this paper, the decision-aided extended Kalman filtering (EKF) technique based timing recovery is investigated for nonlinear disturbance channel in digital communication system. The main features of the proposed timing recovery algorithm are faster convergence, smaller root mean square error (RMSE) and bit error rate (BER) than traditional timing recovery methods, which enables it to handle larger timing errors more reliably and provide with better performance of timing recovery. The simulation results for various time-varying channels are presented to show that the proposed timing recovery algorithm is fit for Wavelet packet transform-based multicarrier modulation system.
