Abstract

The HiperLAN type2 is one of the representative wireless LAN and supports high speed transmission with mobility. Its MAC protocol is based on TDMA/TDD and provides access control and resource allocation schemes. These schemes are very important to prevent waste of resources and to improve the MAC performance in various traffic conditions. In this paper, we propose a scheme that provides adaptive random access and resource allocation according to traffic load. The proposed scheme supports the efficient resource allocation and the effective access control by using access probability. The analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme performs better than the conventional scheme and supports priority service easily.
